College Start is the beginning of your college experience at Virginia Intermont.
It is designed for students entering Virginia Intermont's evening program with little or no college experience. Students are assigned to an advisor who will help them gain enough credits to enter their major while fulfilling the required prerequisite courses. Classes are held in eight-week subterms where the student will attend each course one to two nights per week for eight weeks and then begin new courses for the 2nd subterm.
Courses can be completed one at a time or up to three per subterm (six per semester).
Classes are held in small groups with only 8 to 10 students in each class. This ensures that the instructor can give individual attention to students and enhance the learning process. The small class size also helps the students to feel more comfortable with asking questions and helping each other.
College Start courses are a part of the core and elective calendar (click Core and Elective on the left side of this page).
