Wright to play professional baseballVirginia Intermont baseball program alumni, Shawn Wright, will be playing in the Frontier Independent League for the Chillicothe Paints. The Paints are located in Chillicothe, Ohio where they play a five month schedule beginning May 18th. and finishing Sep. 20th. The Chillicothe Paints Professional Baseball Association, Inc. is a member of the top Single A, Independent League in the country, the Frontier League of Professional Baseball. The Frontier League fields teams in cities throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri. The Chillicothe Paints, the charter member of the Frontier League since 1993, make their home at V.A. Memorial Stadium.

Cobra Baseball signs Carbone Virginia Intermont Baseball is proud to announce the signing of John Carbone of Syracuse, NY. John will begin school in the fall 2008 and will contribute in catching duties on the team. His most recent stats include a batting average of .293, 22 RBIs and 2 homeruns. "John has desired to come to Virginia Intermont for a number of years and has earned a baseball scholarship to play for the Cobras. John has continued to develop strength over the past year and will fill a major need behind the plate in 2009. As coaches we look for players who have character and who will give everything they have everyday and we feel as though we have found that in John. We are very pleased to have John join the baseball program next year," stated Coach Swain.
